Valley Gardens petition reaches 3000

Valley Gardens Action Group have announced that they have collected over 3000 signatures against the fencing off of the Windsor Valley Gardens in just three weeks.

Comments:
The Crown Estate's plan to fence off the loveliest 220 acres of Windsor Park will affect us all.
I can't understand why anyone would want to fence the gardens off from the lake - they belong together.
The claim that deer and rabbits and 'unmanaged access' are damaging the gardens are simply not true.
Using the Freedom of Information Act the Valley Gardens Action Group have discovered that only 3, yes only 3, documented cases of plant damage exist. And - guess what - there were no cases recorded prior to the current fencing plans. So when the Crown Estate tell us that: 'horticulturalists responsible for the upkeep of The Valley Gardens advise very clearly that the problems caused by pest species are increasing' they are being very 'economical with the truth'.
Why are they doing this? they are under the delusion that they will make money. Well they won't: just like the Savill Garden where vistor numbers have recently decreased by 40%, they will discover that we, the public, can't afford to pay each time we want to go. The Valley Gardens will be deserted in the summer, autumn and winter and the taxpayer will foot the bill.

Only three documented cases of plant damage in the valley gardens is hardly a justification for fencing them in.
