Want some accomodation for visitors? Perhaps the mother in law is coming to stay over easter? You could put her up in the Slough M$ airport travel in at 39.00 a night, or just go crazy and book the Astor suite at
Cliveden House, Taplow. I found out last week that this would cost an incredible £900 per night. Breakfast is included mind.
Today I saw about 15 Caravans parked on the land by the Jubilee River just east of J6 of the M4.
My initial reaction was to wish them them gone and quick about it, but looking at where they have pitched up, is 15 caravans a bigger 'crime' to the world in general than the pollution from the motorway or the relief road that I drive down every day?
Have I totally lost perspective? Am I just a reactionary old git feeling angst at the encroachment of 'gipsies' on my patch. I rather suspect I am you know, and it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. I always thought I would be a better person than this.
I thought I would provide a link to a page about
Bird Flu for readers this morning.
If you find a dead swan, goose or duck; or three or more dead wild or garden birds in the same place, you should call the Defra helpline on 08459 335577.
H5 bird flu found in Britain. Concern for Windsor's swans this morning as H5 bird flu is found in a dead swan on mainland Britain. The swan was found in Scotland, leading to a halting of the week long exercise to see how the services would respond to an avain flu outbreak. We now have the real thing to worry about. So far 105 people have died from Avain Flu around the world, but thankfully so far, the disease is not transfering to humans except thru close contact with infected birds. Our thoughts go out to Tim Heron and the Swan Rescue Team.
Valley Gardens Action Group have announced that they have collected over 3000 signatures against the fencing off of the Windsor Valley Gardens in just three weeks.
There was a lot of activity in Woolworths this weekend as local gardeners got wind that the store was selling both black and red grape vines for £3.99 each. It seems the idea of
vine cultivation hit a spot and the local allotments are set to become home to row upon row of vines from now on. Our warming climate will help these tender plants to survive, so who knows, in a few years time we could all be drinking wines from the Windsor vinyards.
