Proposals by the Crown Estate to fence The Valley Gardens and introduce an element of entry charging, about which local concern has been raised, have been deferred. Local protests seem to have swayed opinions at the Crown Estate Office. This is excellent news all round for relationships between town and crown.

Yes Slough might be the butt of Jokes because of the poetic Betjeman connection, but there is money in Slough, there are things to do in Slough. Slough is not a bad place for young people to grow up in.
Perhaps all we learn from these arrests that deprivation is not a major causes of disaffection in this country. There is also a report that one of the alledged bombers has only been muslim for 6 months. I suspect that his newfound religion was a symptom rather than a cause of his (again alledged) disaffection
Svengali Music Festival - CANCELLED 2006Sadly predicatable. Whatever the quoted reasons that emerge, the lack of marketing that this event had behind it made us predict its demise many weeks ago.
Lets hope the guys get their act together for next year.
Windsor residents have been receiving notes through their doors this week asking for unwanted clothes to be left on the doorstep for collection.
These requests do not come from a charity, but from a private company who then sell the clothes on for profit.
Rather than give away your old clothes to line a stranger's pockets, please take them to a bona fide charity shop (we have several in town) where their sale will do some good.
