My Little Pony at the Barracks

A great little story doing the rounds is that Soldiers at Combermere Barracks have been competing with each other to see who can get hold of the most inappropriate bed linen.

As elite soldiers of the British Army would, they have chosen 'My little Pony', 'Barbie' and other children's favourites from the Argos catalogue. Prince Harry has reportedly bought himself a set of 'spiderman' bedclothes.

Wind in the Willows home in danger

Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust have reported that the Moor Copse on the river Pang by Pangbourne, inspiration for Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows has gone up for sale. This is a last vital habitat for the threatened river vole ('ratty' from book). To save it for the future, the trust wish to buy the land, doubling the size of the wildlife refuge on the riverbank.

They only have first refusal to buy Moor Copse for the nxt few weeks and need to raise £200,000.

Dedworth given away as raffle prize

According to the Princeton Packet Online (am I the only person in the royal borough who reads this acclaimed tome?)

"BREAKING NEWS: Anklowitz wins West Windsor"

I wonder if Mr (or Mrs) Anklowitz will come in person to collect. We will probably have a little handing over ceremony in the Tesco car park. I suspect Anklowitz will trade the prize in for something of similar value... perhaps a new X-Box?
