4.40pm and the Thames is still rising in Windsor. BBC reports that the peak will hit Reading around midnight and so we can expect maximum levels early tomorrow morning.
Oxford residents evacuated as flood waters rise Yahoo! News UK is reporting "Along the Thames, residents in other towns were warned that the river could go on rising throughout the day."
Current Status in Windsor is good, with a foot and a half of riverbank showing in the town centre and 2 ft along the brocas.
The jubilee river flood relief channel is running fast, but not currently looking like it will overflow.
The water level in the Thames continues to rise and is now expected to peak at Reading early on Wednesday and then at Windsor on Thursday.
Windsor residents are becoming concerned over at the possibility of a major flooding as the Thames waters rose overnight and were predicted to continue rising for the next two days. The river is expected to burst its banks up at Oxford some time later today or early tomorrow.
Staff from the Royal Borough are issuing sandbags to properties where there is an imminent risk of flooding. If you are concerned about flooding please call the RBWM Customer Service Centre on 01628 683804 (during office hours) or 01753 853517 (Out of Hours emergency number).
The environment agency website shows maps of risk, so you can see if your property is in an at-risk area.
Yesterday afternoon the environment agency released a Flood Warning for the River Thames from Victoria Bridge, Windsor to Bell Weir Lock, including Datchet, Old Windsor and Wraysbury.

Flooding has caused chaos in Maidenhead, but Windsor escaped serious damage despite a month's worth of rainfall decending on the town in just three hours this morning.
Windsor boys school suffered flooding, but the royal town escaped much potential danger, due to the jubilee river flood aleviation scheme which proved its worth this morning.

The annual
Swan Upping ceremony on the Thames at Windsor took place this morning. Rowers in traditional livery moved upstream counting the swans and ringing new birds as they went. The Swan upping Ceremony is a part of England's history dating back to the medieval times.
Swan Upping will take place on 17th July from early morning at Eton bridge moving upstream to Boveney Lock.

The Guardian newspaper today report on their front page that Thames Valley Uni are in such dire financial straights that they could collapse, leaving thosand of students stranded without a chance to finish their expensive degrees. The Guardian newspaper reports that TVU was one of three Universities deliberately witheld from a document written by the Higher Education Funcding Council detailing the names of 50 'at risk' unis because TVU was under so great a financial strain.
Good luck to local students planning to attend TVU from October.

The Costcutter minimarket on Dedworth Road, Windsor had its licence to sell alcohol revoked at Bracknell Magistrates' Court. The shop owner was ordered to pay £3,000 court costs after consistently flouting the law regarding the sale of drinks to minors.
