Football in Windsor
Windsor FC
Windsor FC were formed in 2011.
Our pervious local team, Windsor & Eton FC had been formed back in August 1892. "The Royalists" as they are known have loyal supporters who come to watch them play in the The British Gas Southern League Divison One South and West.
The home ground was Stag Meadow down the southern end of St. Leonards Road. It has terracing all the way around the ground, plus a new turnstile block and an extension to the covered terracing on the far side of the ground. This led to the Isthmian League awarding the ground a 'A' grade status.
Morgaro Gomez who is currently playing for Rangers was once a Windsor team member.
Bary Davies, the BBC Sport Comentator was one of our small but loyal band of devoted fans.
In 2011 financial troubles caused the club's closure, but rising from the ashes, a new club, Windsor FC was formed. Goalkeeper Rob Bullivant was the first player to be signed to the new club.
The first match was played at Stag Meadow on 16th July 2011 and ended with a 2-1 victory for Windsor FC over local rivals Slough Town.
