Jornin Thai Restaurant - Reviewed

"The best tasting Thai food in Windsor"

Where is the Jornin Thai Restaurant?

5 St. Leonards Road

Service at the Jornin Thai Restaurant

This is a family run opperation, with Mrs J downstairs cooking her authentic thai food, while her husband looks after the customers. A true gentleman, he is attentive but never overbearing. We liked the welcome glasses of water (no charge) and the free prawn crackers that arrived before we ordered. The wine list is small but well thought out, with a very reasonable house white selling for just a tenner a bottle.

The Food at the Jornin Thai Restaurant

There are just 4 starters, two soups and nine main courses on the menu. We took this as a good sign. When there are hundreds of dishes on a menu, how can they all be freshly prepared?

Freshness was a key theme of both the Tom Yum Goong and Tom Kha Kai soups. The Tom Yum, a spicy and tangy prawn soup with a fiery kick was elevated by the freshest of lime leaves coriander and lemon grass.

The Tom Kha was a chicken in conconut concoction, but it never felt heavy or cloying which is the problem I have encoutered when eating the same soupp in other restaurants.

The main course curries came with rice and were exceptionally well priced. The green curry had a heady basil scent in every smooth and succulent mouthful, while the fiery jungle curry had enough of a kick to please any jungle curry lover.

The Jornin is not the most beautiful restaurant in Windsor and neither does it have the best location, but for amazing value home cooking from thailand, this really is a restaurant you should visit.
