Savill Gardens

spring blossom at saville gardens 2005Alongside the castle lies an equally impressive park which stretches for over 6 miles down to the village of Virginia Waters. Tucked in the southeast corner corner of the park about 4 miles from the castle is the stunning 18 heactare garden built in the 1930's for King George V and Queen Mary by Eric Savill.

Now open to the public, this lovely garden features a temperate greenhouse, a stream running through amazing planting schemes and one of the world's finest woodland gardens. In spring the camellias, rhododendrons and daffs are really spectacular, while in high summer the roses and herbaceous varieites are popular with visitors.

The facilities at Savill Garden are top-notch with a restaurant, giftshop and plant centre all fully refurbished for 2005. They are open every day of the year except Christmas Day and Boxing Day between 10am and 6pm (March to October) and 10am and 4pm (November to February).

Take a look at our pictures of Savill Garden page.

We got sent this link with some stunning photos taken in Savill Garden by local photographer Mark Dunn. Mark has done a great job of capturing the spirit of Savill Gardens in his pictures. He is also adept at finding new and interesting angles from which to view the abundance of nature.
