Apart from Windsor Castle, Legoland, Eton and all the other attractions in the area we are also close to Dorney Lake, the rowing venue for the 2012 olympics.
Windsor's Twin Towns
Windsor is twinned with the following towns:
Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany
Goslar was twinned with Windsor in 1969. It sits slap bang in the middle
of Germany. The old town, (like our Castle) is a World Heritage Site. The
town is over 1000 years old with a wealth derived from the mining of silver
and other precious metals. Like Windsor, the old town is small enough that
it is best viewed on foot, but despite that there is much to see and do
in Goslar. The Kaiserpfalz (Emperor's Palace) is the cultural highlight
and is actually about 30 years older than Windsor Castle! Being located
just a little to the north of the Harz mountain range, it is unsurprising
that outdoor activites feature heavily in and around Goslar. Visitors can
choose from activities including Skiing, Hang-gliding, Rock climbing, Mountain
biking, Sailing, Wind-Surfing, White-water-rafting, Canoeing, Golfing, Diving,
Swimming and more besides.
