I was asked yesterday where a family group of 105 people should meet up for lunch? Suddenly the usual parameters of food quality, price and atmosphere are joined by seating practicalities.

I had a t bit of a think (no mean feat at the weekend); wrote a long list and then shortened it, thinking about potential fussy eaters, the need for a single table rather than a few tables close to each other and also whether children were actually allowed in.

My long list included The River House, Ayoush and the George in Eton, Browns, The ReaL Greek, Gigneys new burger place and  The Viceroy on Peascod Street.

In the end I plumped for Sebastian’s Italian  restaurant. It had the perfect blend of good food, relaxed atmosphere, comfy seating, long tables that can easily be joined together and a reasonable average price per person.   They are known for their wood fired pizzas, but my personal tip for next time you visit is that you really must try the  absolutely stunning wild mushroom and truffle ravioli.

I am delighted to say the whole family agreed it had been an excellent lunch  in a great venue.

Any other Windsor restaurants I should have considered for a mixed age family group of 15 including kids?
