The weekend of the 13th and 14th June 2015 will be a great time to visit Windsor. This will be an occasion where the whole world will be watching Windsor as we celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.

Over the weekend a river relay of historic rowed craft will proceed downstream along the Thames from Hurley down to Runnymede where King John originally sealed the document.  They will carry a newly crafted  facsimile of Magna Carta which will be passed from bearer to bearer on the Royal Shallop ‘Jubilant’ a beautiful rowing barge, kindly loaned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for the event.

At many spots along the route there will be activities  at pre arranged viewing points  to allow as many people as possible to take part in the day.  The Saturday will feature stops in Marlow,  Cookham, Cliveden and Maidenhead. On the Sunday the procession will set off from Oakley Court, upstream from Windsor to stop opposite the Castle at the Eton brocas meadow before heading to Runnymede for the culmination of the event. There will be a medieval pageant and a huge host of activities to enjoy on what promises to be a most exciting weekend.
