The big switch on of the town’s Christmas lights and Castle Illuminations was of necessity cancelled as a crowd-drawing event, but the lights are shining in Windsor this year as every year nonetheless.
This year’s tree was a gift from Her Majesty and was grown locally in Windsor Great Park. The baubles appear to be the same beautiful hand-blown glass baubles that were gifted to us by the the town of Coburg a few years ago.
The illumination of the Garter Tower outside wall is back for the sixth year running. This is something very special and always gets a positive reception from people who see it from the first time.
The designs are a mix of still photos, animations and drawings by local children, providing an additional festive appeal to the town centre.
Along Peascod street the large crowns once again stand out and are suitably sized for this most royal set of decorations.
For something a little different, but equally impressive, a short walk down the hill and across the bridge to Eton reveals a totally different themed high street with beautiful white decorations that come together to give a harmoniously festive look to the little town on the island.
