The cowpond near Cumberland lodge has been undergoing a facelift over the last year. The rhodedendrons have all been cleared away and a walk all the way around the pond is now possible for all visitors.
The pond had become overgrown and only a short section of the bank was accessable before the works began last year. The addition of a shelter at the southern end and a wooden bridge at the north end have made this a lovely addition to the park for walkers in the know.
The next step of the work is the cleanup of the lime tree path which dates back to the seventeen hundreds. The upgrade will entail the removal of some old trees and the planting of new trees where appropriate.
