The 7th season of the award winning ‘Cruising with Jane McDonald‘ show on Channel 5 featured the host enjoying a walking tour of Windsor Town followed by a drink at the Windsor and Eton Brewery.
Rather than cruises to exotic locations on huge liners, last year’s travel restrictions allowed Jane to explore a somewhat different type of cruise holiday. A few days exploring the sights of the Thames valley from on board the sumptuous Magna Carta hotel barge was a great way for the singer and presenter to celebrate the birthdays of some close friends.
Episode 3 of Season 7 saw Jane and the gang arrive in Windsor when the Magna Carta came through the Town Bridge with only inches of headroom to spare, giving the passengers quite a fright. Once safely moored up at The Promenade, Barry Avenue, our Royal Borough Town Crier, Chris Brown welcomed them and then took the group for a tour to show them some of our town’s famous sights.
As well as the riverside they got to see the Castle gate, the Guildhall, the crooked house, Church Street and the statue of the Irish Guardsman at the corner of Sheet Street and the High Street.
Chris jokingly ‘saved the best till last’ and finished by directing the group to Queen Charlotte Street which is listed as the shortest street in Britain.
Then it was on to the Windsor and Eton Brewery on Duke Street for a well earned celebratory drink.
Filmed in October 2020, the show was first broadcast on Sunday 23rd May 2021 at 9.00pm on Channel 5. It can be watched online at my5.tv/cruising-with-jane-mcdonald/season-7
