A news bandstand is to be constructed in Windsor’s Alexandra Gardens.
The old bandstand fell into ruin around 30 years agony was removed. A new traditionally designed bandstand will be sited at the downstream end of the gardens which run alongside the Thames, close to the centre of town. Open air band concerts look to be making a welcome return to Windsor and should help to keep Alexandra Gardens (owned by the National Trust) a popular spot for visitors.
The gardens have in recent years suffered from fairground attractions being placed there, ruining the grass for most of the year. At last night’s meeting the council also disapproved the plan for a ‘sky ride’ fairground attraction which would have again been sited in the park.
There was a lot of public approval reported for both council decisions and It looks like a new bandstand is a excellent idea and will benefit the gardens.
