Today we have heard the sad news of the death of Prince Philip at the age of 99 years. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and the family at this time.
The Duke of Edinburgh has left a strong legacy in Windsor. In particular his work as Head Ranger of the Great Park has left us with a national treasure in the form of 5000 acres of beautiful parkland and woodland for everyone to enjoy. He was instrumental in shaping the park in to what it is today. He will be greatly missed.
On the 17th April there will be a short procession within the grounds of Windsor Castle followed by a funeral service in St George’s Chapel. There will be no procession through the streets to mark the funeral. With Covid restrictions still in place the royal family are marking his passing in a low key manner. The event will be televised and the public are being urged not to come to Windsor on the day.
