Windsor Castle Opening Times

Windsor Castle is open throughout the year.  A typical visit lasts between 2 and 3 hours and last admission is 1 hrs 15 mins before the Castle closes.  Please be aware that during busy periods – i.e. summer holidays – queuing to get into Windsor Castle can take some time.  To avoid the queues you may purchase a ticket beforehand, or make sure you allow sufficient time for your visit should the need to queue arise.

Windsor Castle Closures

As a working Royal palace, the Castle is often used by The Queen for State ceremonies and official entertaining, and closures can occasionally occur at short notice.  Please check opening arrangements  by visiting the official Windsor Castle website or telephoning the ticket sales and information office on +44 (0)20 7766 7300.

Where is Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is easily reached by train, coach and road.

By train

Windsor is serviced by trains from Oxford, London Waterloo and London Paddington.  The Castle is a short walk from both of Windsor’s stations.

Green Line operates daily services from Victoria Coach Station, London.

By road

Exit the M4 at Exit 6 or the M3 at Exit 3 and follow signs to Windsor Town Centre.
