A subject very close to my heart. We have a lot of pubs in Windsor and so reviewing them all would damage my liver and not be that useful, so this page just aims to highlight some of my favourite pubs and explain what makes each of them special.
The Swan
9 Mill Lane, Clewer Village, Windsor SL4 5JG
In September 2026 the Swan was awarded ‘Community Pub of the Year’ at the UK Pub Awards for the second time. The Swan really is an exceptional place. Loads of local clubs and events and live music and even an on-site school make this venue unique in the country and it also serves great beer.

The George
77 High St, Eton, Windsor SL4 6AF
Not technically in Windsor as you have to walk across the bridge to Eton but it is worth the trip. In 2026 it appeared in The Telegraph’s UK’s 100 best pubs listing. The pub dates back to around 1750, and is currently owned by the Windsor & Eton Brewery, so you can guarantee decent cask and keg beers. They offer decent classic pub meals and have an outdoor area.
