Windsor Beer Mile

The town’s first brewery in a century opened on St Georges Day 2012. In the decade since then, things have changed considerably. Alongside the Windsor and Eton Brewery (at one end of the arches) we now also have the Two Flints Brewery at the other end and directly next door to them, the Indie Rabble Brewery.

In 2024 we officially opened the Windsor Beer Mile.

Where to start? There are 2 options. You could start from the Windsor & Eton Brewery or jut a little further out of the town centre the Swan in Clewer which won the 2024 national community pub of the year award is a great starting place. from either one, the route is basically in toward the castle. Walking the ‘beer mile’ is an experience to savour. It’s a fantastic way to explore the  unique character of Windsor. That is because once you have been to all three breweries you head into the town centre which has an embarrassment of riches when it come to loads more cosy, historic pubs.

The route

On leaving the gates of the Swan in Clewer turn left and head up Mill Lane toward St Andrews church. Before the churchyard turn right into Clewer court and then follow that as it curves around the churchyard to your left. Near the end of the road there is a large well lit pedestrian tunnel to your right which takes you under the A332.

The Windsor mile is an opportunity to sample a huge variety of traditional ales, ciders, and some really delicious pub grub.  Plus, if you come late in the day you’ll have the chance to see iconic sights like Windsor Castle lit up at night, adding a touch of magic to your adventure.

Cheers to a quintessentially British experience!
